The Carol Burnett Show is resurfacing on DVD and I, for one, am thrilled. Carol Burnett effortlessly combined pathos with slapstick and made my all-time favorite comedy sketch show. I can still recite lines from its original run and the "Gone With The Wind" and "Mildred Pierce" parodies rank among my absolute top TV programs in history. Time Life is releasing four different versions from 22 discs, to 6 discs, to 2 discs, to 1 disc at various price points. They may not all be on sale here, at least officially, but if you don't find them here--a quick Internet search ought to take you where you need to go (I'm not allowed to provide outside links). I know the Complete Collection is another website's exclusive. As I decided not to break my personal bank with the Complete Collection, I opted to pick up the 6 disc Carol's Favorites. This set has 16 uncut episodes and over three hours of exclusive bonus features. Some of the sketches included, a good cross section: Went With the Wind The Family Mrs Wiggins The Oldest Man The Charwoman As The Stomach Turns Guest stars include Betty White, Steve Martin, Carl Reiner, Joan Rivers, The Jackson 5, Shirley MacLaine. Bonus Features: Let's Bump Up The Lights: Cast Reunion Harvey Korman and Tim Conway Together Again The Dentist sketch (with Korman and Conway) from 1969 The Gary Moore Show episode featuring Burnett in a Supergirl skit I Want To Push that Button: The History of The Carol Burnett Show Featurette Ahhh, Mrs. Whiggins Featurette Interviews with Betty White, Carl Reiner and others. I seriously doubt I need to sell anyone on the idea that The Carol Burnett Show was brilliant television. Just thought I'd let you know the content of this six disc set.
